Lou Vescio, CBI, M&AMI

Lou Vescio is a managing and founding partner of Agency Brokerage Consultants. He is a Certified Business Intermediary (CBI), a certified Merger and Acquisition Master Intermediary (M&AMI) and licensed real estate broker in Florida.  Lou also serves on the board of directors for the International Business Brokers’ Association (IBBA) and has been elected its Chairman for 2017.  

Lou graduated college and joined the US Air Force as an aviator where he flew both F-4 and C-141 aircraft, including a combat tour in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam conflict.  Upon separation from active duty, Lou transferred to the reserve forces and continued flying for the Air National Guard until his retirement in 1994.

In 1977, Lou joined Texas Instruments and worked in a variety of managerial positions to include manufacturing engineering, production control, operations analysis and product marketing.  When he left the company in 1992, he was a Marketing Director for the Defense Electronics Group. Lou and his wife Maggie then started a franchised computer training business and grew it to one of the top five franchises in the country within the first year.  He later cofounded a high-end computer training business which grew to $11.5 million in sales in five years.  Lou and his partners sold both businesses by 2001.

After a brief retirement, Lou began employment with Sunbelt Business Brokers in Florida and was quickly recognized as one of the “top fifty” brokers in the Sunbelt Business Brokerage Network, which was comprised of more than 300 offices throughout the U.S. and 25 foreign countries.  Lou later founded Agency Brokerage Consultants which specializes in insurance agency/broker M&A transactions and helped grow the firm to become ranked as one of the top insurance M&A firms in the country.

Lou’s formal education includes a BS in Mathematics from Clarion State College and attending graduate schools at Webster College and the University of Dallas with specialties in Business Administration and Economics.  Lou teaches professional courses and conducts seminars for business intermediaries, and has been quoted in numerous publications to include the New York Times.

Lou and his wife, Maggie, have two grown sons and live in Indian Harbour Beach, FL.  

Michael Mensch, CBI, M&AMI

Michael is a managing and founding partner of Agency Brokerage Consultants. He is a Certified Business Intermediary (CBI) and a certified Merger and Acquisition Master Intermediary (M&AMI), being one of the youngest M&A professionals in the nation to earn the M&AMI designation at the time. He studied chemical engineering in college and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida Tech and a Master of Science degree from Virginia Tech, continuing through becoming a PhD candidate in a program that ranked 5th in the nation for his area of study. He also holds a real estate sales associate license and property & casualty agent license in Florida.

Michael has been one of the top contributors to Oak Street Funding's "The Bridge" publication since 2008, providing articles pertaining to valuing, building, buying and selling independent agencies and brokerages. In 2012, he helped Oak Street launch a highly successful webinar series on various educational topics for insurance agency principals and remains their top presenter with topics drawing nearly 400 registered participants at one time. He also regularly publishes articles on the firm’s blog at www.agencybrokerage.net.

Michael has overseen over 400 valuations for insurance agencies and brokerages around the country, making him one of the most experienced agency valuators in the country. In 2009 and 2010, Michael was ranked in the top five members of the Business Broker's of Florida association, earning the annual "Deal Maker Award". In 2015, he earned the “Chairman’s Circle Award” and “Deal Maker Award” from the International Business Brokers’ Association for being a top member. In 2017, he was named to the prestigious National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts "40 Under Forty" list of brightest emerging leaders in the business valuation profession. To date, he has facilitated hundreds of negotiations for both buyer and seller clients, working with independent agency owners, private equity-backed firms and publicly-traded brokerages.

Michael and his wife, Erica, live in Melbourne, FL with their three young children.

Sean Brelsford, CBI

Sean Brelsford is the youngest member of the ABC team. Upon graduating from college, Sean was brought on to the firm as a business analyst where he gained valuable experience in evaluating agency data, performing business valuations and drafting reports for clients. He completed the majority of his undergraduate studies at Kent State University in OH and relocated to the area where he attended and graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance. Sean completed the Florida Real Estate Sales Associate license and started an IT business while still in college. Sean gained extensive experience in small business and transaction management by taking up this challenge.

Sean obtained the Certified Business Intermediary (CBI) designation in 2014 through the International Business Brokers’ Association (IBBA). He advises clients while assisting the firm’s senior team members in many client engagements. He is an active member of the IBBA, Florida Association of Insurance Agents (FAIA) and Latin American Association of Insurance Agents (LAAIA).

Sean lives in Satellite Beach, FL and is a surfing enthusiast.

Drew Smith, CBI, M&AMI, MCBC, CBB

Drew is a regional partner of Agency Brokerage Consultants based in Maryland. He is a Certified Business Intermediary (CBI), Certified Business Broker (CBB), Merger and Acquisition Master Intermediary (M&AMI), Master Certified Business Counselor (MCBC) and licensed real estate broker in the state of Maryland. Drew graduated summa cum laude from the University of Baltimore with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a concentration in real estate.

Drew has spent more than 30 years advising a variety of clients in mergers, acquisitions, business brokerage, capital procurement and business and real estate valuation. He has worked on hundreds of transactions up to $25M in value. Mr. Smith is a highly regarded M&A advisor and has built a reputation on integrity, knowledge and providing exceptional service.

Drew is an active member of the International Business Brokers’ Association (IBBA), the M&A Source, and the Institute of Certified Business Counselors (ICBC). He has served as an instructor, and on various committees, for the IBBA, on the Board of Directors for the ICBC and on the National Advisory Council for the Business Broker Network.

Drew has two grown children and lives in Annapolis, MD.

Jonathan Espinoza, CVA

Certified Valuation Analyst

Jonathan Espinoza is the most recent addition to the ABC team. He brings over 15 years of experience in the finance and accounting field. He was brought on to the firm as a financial analyst evaluating agency data, performing business valuations and drafting reports for clients. He completed his undergraduate studies at University of Central Florida with a Bachelors degree in Accounting. After completion of undergraduate studies, he was hired as a Staff Accountant for the capital management team at a national internet and cable provider firm. He gained valuable managerial accounting experience and was involved in many of the company’s projects, including the capital budget of over $5M and re-estimate of budget at mid-year. He later transitioned into an office management position at a local accounting firm, where he did full-cycle bookkeeping and payroll for local businesses and assisted the firm during the tax season with many corporate and personal income taxes.

Jonathan obtained the Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) designation in 2016 through the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA) and is currently assisting the firm’s senior team members in many client engagements and valuations. He is an active member of the NACVA.

Jonathan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Central Florida. He is fluent in Spanish and American Sign Language and volunteers in his off time with the deaf community. Jonathan resides in Melbourne, FL with his wife, Melissa, who holds a P&C insurance license, a CIC designation and has worked for insurance companies and agencies for the last 15 years.
